Beer. Pizza. Tailgating. A crisp breeze in the air.

That’s right, guys – it’s officially football season. And there’s no better way to enjoy the game then in your very own man-cave complete with surround-sound, a home theater and team-oriented (and super-manly) décor.

When it comes to football, the experience can make all the difference in the quality entertainment that is so well-associated with the sport. Thanks in part to a recent article at the DIY Network, here are the top 5 tips in designing the very best man-cave right in your own home.

Are you ready for some football?

5 Best-Of Tips for Designing the Ultimate Man-Cave

1. Pre-plan your design

It all starts with the perfect set up including furniture, sound and and visual optimization. Measure your space and use graph paper (just like you did in math class) to better understand the room and its arrangement. If you’re including some construction aspects to your man-cave such as a built-in entertainment shelving system or privacy walls, make sure to pre-plan all the details before getting started including budget, materials and any professionals (electrical, HVAC, etc.) needed to complete the job. If your project is extensive, it doesn’t hurt to inquire on any needed permits before undergoing construction.

2. Get comfortable

Once you have your initial man-cave roadmap planned out, it’s time to think about furniture. Some of the best arrangements include sectionals that allow guests to get comfortable. Chaise lounges are also a nice touch. And what kind of man-cave is complete without a recliner? Might we suggest one with cup-holders?

3. Color and Theme

We know – decorating isn’t all that manly, but a man-cave must have a sense of awesomeness and there’s no better way of doing just that with color and theme. You don’t have to spend hours picking out designer paint, curtains or crocheted doilies. We wouldn’t do that to you. Instead, keep it simple by choosing sports regalia and a central color theme. For instance, if you’re a Chargers fan, what better way to decorate your man-cave than painting a powder-blue accent wall and hanging some professionally framed sports art? Add a couple of white and gold throw pillows and you’re good to go.

4. Distributed Audio

Now for the good stuff. Get the very best in sound with distributed audio to make the most of your man-cave. When acoustics are pin-pointed and sound is perfectly mapped, the results are astonishing. Opt for basic surround sound or take it up a notch with distributed audio in over 36 zones. 5. Home Theater

The holy grail of all man-caves is, of course, the TV. And might we add, the epic and very big TV. It goes without saying that where and how you watch football will be the quintessential cornerstone of your man-cave. Why not take it up a notch with a home theater? Whether it’s picking out your theater chairs or setting up the perfect projection TV, Modern Home Systems will customize the ideal home theater solution for your man-cave.
