This spring, tabloid headlines are filled with references to the ubiquitous “baby bump,” and magazines are devoting page after page to images of pregnant celebrities ranging from royal mother-to-be Kate Middleton to reality diva Kim Kardashian. However, for women who spend their pre and post-baby time in the limelight, body image can be a major concern. Mommy Makeover plastic surgery offers a solution to help celebrity moms and everyday women alike regain their confidence and recapture a sleek physique after giving birth. Read on to learn how a wide range of plastic surgery procedures can transform your body after baby and leave you looking and feeling your best.

Mommy Makeover: a recipe for rejuvenation

So-called “Mommy Makeover” procedures usually involve a combination of treatments designed to address the common drawbacks of pregnancy, ranging from weight gain and unwanted fat to sagging breasts and skin around the belly, as well as facial pigmentation (known by some as the “mask of pregnancy”). Each individual patient will have different needs and goals when it comes to post-pregnancy surgery, and it is important to note that there is no “one size fits all” Mommy Makeover procedure.

Depending on the individual, a board-certified plastic surgeon may recommend a combination of the following procedures:

  • Breast surgery (implants and/or breast lift)
  • Abdominoplasty or “tummy tuck”
  • Liposuction
  • Fractional CO2 Laser Resurfacing
  • Other facial rejuvenation procedures

While some women may merely choose the more non-invasive route and opt for facial treatments and laser resurfacing to repair any unwanted dark pigmentation from their pregnancy, others may wish to undergo a full “makeover” with a broader range of body contouring procedures. Either way, it is important to know what options are best for you, and to discuss your goals with a qualified plastic surgeon to ensure safe, effective surgery and natural-looking results.

Because I’m desperate to regain my pre-pregnancy body, I’m also planning a mommy makeover and that’s why I’ve just booked a consultation with Dr. Jerome Edelstein. I’m really curious what my surgeon will say, namely, what cosmetic procedures will I need…Personally, I’m thinking about a breast augmentation and a liposuction but I’ll see. Anyway, wish me luck! :D
