Prescription Drug Take Back Day has locations in La Jolla

In an effort to prevent prescription drug abuse, the San Diego Police Department is holding a Prescription Drug Take Back day, at which those with prescription drugs can dispose of them with no questions asked. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 27, expired, unused or unwanted prescriptions can be dropped off at Scripps Green Hospital, 10666 North Torrey Pines Road; UC San Diego lot 75, near Voigt and Campus Point Drive; and the Veteran’s Administration Hospital, 3350 La Jolla Village Drive.  The safe disposal site disposemymeds.org reports “Each year in the United States, more than 71,000 children aged 18 and younger are seen in emergency rooms for unintentional overdoses of prescription and over-the-counter drugs.” For more information about proper medication disposal, visit www.disposemymeds.org
