With summer just around the corner, it comes as no surprise that women everywhere are looking forward to the perpetual warmth of the summer season. But as many sun goddesses already know, the sun isn’t too kind when it comes to keeping skin looking and feeling young. That’s because the sun is one of the leading causes of fine lines, wrinkles and discoloration. Unfortunately, the summer season doesn’t come without a few added wrinkles for women who surrender their skin to the Southern California sun.

But it doesn’t always have to be that way.

According to fashion magazine Marie Claire, laser resurfacing continues to prove successful in removing the unwanted effects of the sun including fine lines and wrinkles.

“Lasers have come to the forefront of anti-aging beauty treatments in the last few years, and, with stars like Jennifer Aniston having praised the method, we can see the appeal.”

The iconic fashion mag further explains that laser resurfacing “works by the laser removing a layer of skin from the face and causing softer, tighter skin to grow back with less visible blemishes and wrinkles.”

Sun goddesses have less to fear in terms of fine lines and deep creases with CO2 laser resurfacing in La Jolla. Of course, it goes without saying that all men and women should wear sunscreen since SPF coverage prevents skin cancer.

TYPES OF LASER RESURFACING

ActiveFX

ActiveFX is a fractional laser that works through a method called “Bridge Therapy.” Tiny laser beams penetrate the skin, leaving behind a “bridge” pattern that helps stimulate the production of collagen while being kind to the skin’s surface. Immediately following the treatment, skin appears to have microdots across its surface.  The skin heals quickly, and collagen formation begins instantaneously.

Benefits of the ActiveFX laser resurfacing include smoother, tighter skin and fuller facial contours. The eye area appears tighter as well. Because the laser treatment is also used on the neck, you can expect to see a smoother, tighter and less wrinkled neck area. Skin discoloration is also reduced, leading to a clearer complexion. Any scars are minimized as collagen formation begins to smooth over any unevenness.

DeepFX

For a more dramatic effect, DeepFX CO2 laser resurfacing is an option to pursue when a deeper response is needed to rejuvenate folds, creases and other unwanted facial wrinkles. DeepFX creates a deeper thermal response on the skin’s surface, leading to a greater production of collagen. This treatment causes collagen strands to shrink, thereby tightening the outer skin’s surface. Just as a cotton shirt will shrink in the dryer due to the heat, your skin will respond accordingly with the heat that is applied with DeepFX CO2 laser resurfacing.

With DeepFX, collagen strands shrink immediately, leading to an instantly firmer look. Within 3 to 5 months, your skin will look its very best from the DeepFX procedure. You can expect skin to appear tight, smooth and luminous – all the best qualities for the most natural, youthful looking skin.
