Students from Tap Fever Studio to perform spring show Saturday, April 13 in La Jolla

Tap Fever Studios will host its annual recital 3-5 p.m. Saturday, April 13  at La Jolla High School’s Parker Auditorium, 750 Nautilus St. The show, titled “Get Outta Your Mind,” will feature dancers ages 2-98 performing ballet, jazz, contemporary, tap, hip-hop and UrbanElectro Shuffling.

In addition to the traditional dance genres, there will also be special performances by our seniors and student Jennifer Tuccillo, who suffers from reflex sympathetic dystrophy syndrome, but has gotten back into tap dancing after a 10-year hiatus, thanks to Tap Fever’s accessible classes. Due to her illness Jennifer has to use crutches to help ease her pain, but she still loves to dance and will be performing a special tap routine at approximately 4:15 p.m. The show will also feature a Hand-tap performance by seniors with limited mobility from Vi Living La Jolla.

Tap Fever Studios is a local non-profit dance school with a mission to provide everyone with the opportunity to dance, regardless of any obstacles they may face physically or financially. Tap Fever Studios has workshops for people with disabilities or limited mobility, dance scholarships for people who may not be able to afford dance classes otherwise, as well as a leadership mentoring program for teens.

The annual recital is Tap Fever’s largest fundraising event of the year. Doors open at 2 p.m. Tickets at the door are $10.
