La Jolla resident Perry Falk acquires Tony McCune dealership

La Jolla resident Perry Falk, president of the Perry Auto Group, has purchased the McCune Motors auto dealership at 2340 National City Blvd. on the National City Mile of Cars.

The dealership is now called Perry Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep-Ram. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“We are very excited to add the McCune dealership to the Perry Auto Group family,” Falk said. “The facility is at a good location along the Mile and has a strong parts and service department. I feel fortunate that Tony McCune agreed to sell to another dealer along the Mile of Cars.”

The Perry Auto Group consists of six dealerships in California, including Perry Ford in National City and Poway, Perry Infiniti in Escondido, Perry Ford and Mazda in Santa Barbara and Perry Ford, Lincoln and Volkswagen in San Luis Obispo.

The acquisition ends a 65-year history of the McCune name on the National City Mile of Cars, which is a stretch of National City Boulevard in National City featuring nine family-owned dealerships offering more than 18 makes and models. Dick McCune, father of Tony McCune, opened a Chrysler dealership in National City in January 1948.

“It’s bittersweet, but there comes a time in your life to let go,” McCune said. “Perry is a good man, and he’ll do a great job.”

Falk said he approached McCune last year about selling his dealership. Falk has owned auto dealerships in San Diego County since 1995. He became an owner on the Mile of Cars in October 2002 after purchasing what was then called National City Ford.
