Educator to discuss reforms in China at The Bishop’s School in La Jolla at 4:30 p.m. Feb. 14

“Why Didn’t China Celebrate? The implications of China’s education reform for America” will be the topic addressed by Yong Zhao as a guest of The Bishop’s School and the 21st Century China Program (School of International and Pacific Relations, UCSD), at 4:30 p.m, today, Feb. 14, at The Bishop’s School Geier Family Presentation Hall.

Dr. Yong Zhao

Zhao was born in China’s Sichuan Province and currently serves as the Presidential Chair and Associate Dean for Global Education in the College of Education, University of Oregon.

In his presentation, Zhao will explore two paradigms of education, and challenge the traditional views of education quality. The presentation is based on Zhao’s two most recent books “Catching Up or Leading the Way: American Education in the Age of Globalization” (ASCD, 2009) and “World Class Learners: Educating Creative and Entrepreneurial Students.” (Corwin, 2012).
