Homicide unit investigating suspicious head injury at La Jolla Travelodge

San Diego Police homicide detectives are investigating circumstances surrounding a serious head injury sustained by a 52-year-old man, who was discovered at the La Jolla Beach Travelodge, 6750 La Jolla Blvd. in the WindanSea area of La Jolla.

The man was found at approximately 12:20 a.m. Sept. 25 by roommates, who contacted the fire department. Medics arrived at the motel and transported the man to a local hospital for treatment, where he is on life support and not expected to recover.

Later the day, at about 10:30 a.m., hospital staff called police to report that the man had an unexplained head injury. Northern Division patrol officers began the investigation as to how the man received the injury. The homicide unit was called in to assume the investigation.

Release of the victim’s name is pending notification of his family.

Detectives have processed the motel room for evidence and are continuing to look for any witnesses who have information on the injured man.
