Lifeguard Sgt. Mike Cranston speaks with a crew from the Weather Channel for its reality TV series, ‘Lifeguard! Southern California.’ Cranston said the recent great white shark sighting at La Jolla Shores spurred a media frenzy. “It’s not unusual for those sharks to be down here; it’s just unusual for a shark of that size to come in that close,” he said. “We don’t take that lightly.” Pat Sherman photos
