La Jolla Liquor store held up Sunday night by man wearing Spiderman mask

Police are seeking a man who held up La Jolla Liquor Sunday night with a gun wearing a Spiderman superhero mask.

The incident occurred at 9:37 p.m. Sunday, April 22 at La Jolla Liquor, 7402 La Jolla Blvd.

The convenience store clerk, who requested anonymity, said the armed robber entered the store with a weapon and a mask but not the full body superhero body suit.

“He entered the store with a gun and walked to the side of the register behind the counter and reached into the register which was already open,” said the clerk who requested anonymity. “After that he just ran out.”

The clerk said he and the robber were the only ones in the store at the time. He added he was caught off-guard by the incident, noting “It’s not the kind of neighborhood I would expect that to happen in.”

The amount of money taken was not disclosed.

Police described the gunman as white, in his 20s, around 5 feet 10, with a medium build. He wore a gray shirt and blue jeans.

The thief was last seen heading south on foor from the store.
