The Teachers Union doesn't issue pink slips! The district does based on budget projections and enrollment for next year. "The California Education Code requires school boards to issue the preliminary layoffs by March 15, and then make a final decision on the notices by May 15." Did you even read the article? The problem is people want things like public schools and don't want to pay for them! You either have to pay taxes or cut services you decide!

ridiculous.....an annual veiled threat from our Teachers UNION.....it will never happen as they own the looney bin known as state legislature. While revenue has dropped 22% over the past 5 years, spending on Education has gone up 40% in the same period and yet, this nonsense continues to occur. IF you really want this to end and to protest, vote for FISCAL CONSERVATIVES in November. Until we break the UNION stranglehold on the California legislature, we will continue to go bankrupt.
