New Athenaeum exhibit celebrates work of two famed watercolorists

An opening reception for “The Whitakers, The Southwest & Mexico,” wil be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Sept, 23 at Athenaeum Music & Arts Library, 1008 Wall St.

The charming exhibit celebrates the births of two distinctive American watercolorists, Frederick Whitaker (1891-1980) and Eileen Whitaker (1911-2005). The show will be on view through Nov. 5. The library is open 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday; 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. (858) 454-5872 ljathenaeum.org
