Newcomers end the year with afternoon at the Women’s Club

La Jolla Newcomers gathered in the garden of the La Jolla Women’s Club on June 12 to welcome its officers for next year. The afternoon drifted by as 80 members enjoyed appetizers from Girard Gourmet and caught up with old friends and new ones. Co-chairs Donna Marshall and Carol Whitmore decorated the tables with spring flowers and coordinated the first annual Best Dessert Contest with judging by several sweet-toothed club members.

Outgoing-president Melinda Underkofler presented gifts to her board, while past-president Beth Saks installed the new executive board and new club members were introduced.

Nancy Thompson and Mary McGee kept busy taking membership renewals for the 2011-’12 season. The club is open to residents with a 92037 Zipcode. For more details, visit lajollanewcomers.org
