Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego to host Summer Solstice Soiree with its Avant Garde members on June 22
The Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego and its special interest group, Avant Garde (creative professionals 40-something and younger), will bring art lovers together to toast the start of summer at its first annual Summer Solstice Soiree, Wednesday, June 22 at the museum, 1100 & 1001 Kettner Boulevard (between Broadway and B Streets).
The communal dinner party begins with a 6 p.m. reception on the outdoor Figi Family Concourse with drinks from Craft & Commerce, and El Dorado. MCASD staff will assist guests in a solstice-inspired art-making activity as an icebreaker.
Party-goers will then head inside for dinner by Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens, which will pair seasonal beers with each course. Jennifer Steinkamp’s “Madame Curie,” the current installation will serve as a backdrop to provide “the décor.”
Avant Garde members are privy to behind-the-scenes access to MCASD and a range of social and philanthropic events throughout the San Diego arts community, such as social meet-ups, private collection tours, studio visits, and more. Membership is $500 annually. Tickets to the Summer Solstice Soiree, $125, are available to the public at mcasd.org (for Avant Garde members, $75 each). Proceeds will benefit education programming at MCASD. For more details, call Rob Sherer at (858) 454-3541, ext. 162 or email@example.com.
