Your View: Seal lovers should refocus their zeal

Have thoroughly enjoyed reading all the letters/commentary re: the Children’s Pool since this
faux “problem” erupted years ago. Politicians ignore the Scripps’ Trust directives just like this
White House shreds our Constitution with no remorse.

Chris Carter’s letter is right on the mark. Golly, I wish all those self-righteous seal lovers would show the same amount of zeal for all the babies being aborted in our nation. Then maybe we could bring this sad chapter of infanticide in our nation’s history to a resounding end.

Who knows why people pick there "Causes"? Some like to fight for seals some like to fight for fetuses. Some donate money to have Concerts in the Park some to help the homeless. And everyone wishes the other would pick up the other's cause. I generally donate to organizations that help people instead of things like fireworks but that's my choice. I would never criticize someone for expressing there First Amendment rights in a non-threatening manner! While I like the seals I do disagree with the shouting and of course any physical harm to anyone or anything. Many times the "message" is lost when people are bothered by your methods. I have chatted with a few of the protesters from both sides and for the most part they are all fairly calm reasonable people. However the few that are extreme on both sides I think miss the mark when trying to inform people about the beach.

Although I would support measure that would teach people about the proper precautions to not have these unwanted pregnancies. But after reading Freakonomics I would never want to limit reproductive rights!

This is the dumbest thing I've ever read. I'm officially embarrassed to be a La Jolla resident.
