UCSD student plays take the stage at The Underground Festival in La Jolla

Eight productions will have their world premieres over 14 days at The Underground New Play Festival through June 4 in the Arthur Wagner Theatre on the UCSD campus. Each spring, the Department of Theatre and Dance undergraduates, novice and experienced directors, designers, and actors join together to showcase the talents of up and coming artists.

This year’s festival features eight plays, four each day, with performances at 2 and 8 p.m. The plays in Showcase A: “Maman Joon,” “Butterfly in China,” “Nevermind” and “Walls.” Showcase B: “Big Bang,” “A Likely Story,” “Broken China & Honey Bears,” “Surprise in Sea Sharp.”  Tickets are $5 and “pay what you can” at the door or online at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/172212
