Jewish culture festival at Mission Bay to mark Israel’s ‘independence’ day

The Jewish Federation of San Diego County will celebrate Israel Independence Day (65 years) from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, May 15 with a free cultural festival, bike ride and family walk at Ski Beach on Mission Bay. The Bike for Israel event begins at 7 a.m. and the Walk for Israel starts at 10 a.m.

“We are partnering with more than 20 Jewish organizations to create an event that celebrates and highlights the vibrancy of Israel and San Diego’s close connections to the region,” said Steve Morris, federation president.

Activities will focus on Israeli music, dancing, and food. A main stage will showcase musicians from community youth groups, as well an Israeli Defense Force band comprised of soldiers. There will be an opportunity to win a round-trip ticket to Israel. For a schedule of events, visit jewishinsandiego.org
