Reality star injured in La Jolla kayak accident

According to Us Magazine and USA Today, 26-year-old reality TV star Ali Fedotowsky of  “Bachelorette” had to be taken to the hospital to get five staples in her head Sunday after she was knocked overboard along with fiancé Roberto Martinez in a kayaking accident in La Jolla.

An on-air correspondent for Fox 5 San Diego, Fedotowsky announced recently she will co-host an upcoming weekly talk show on the Style Network. She lives in University City.

The publications reported that on Monday via Twitter, Fedotowsky thanked everyone for their concern, said the incident was a “big headache,” but added she managed to “hide the staples by parting her hair.”

She vowed to “wear a helmet next time,” the magazine reported.

She was back at work this morning.

Lifeguard Lt. Andy Lerum, who had initially had no additional details, said lifeguards were extremely busy this weekend, especially on Saturday, as warm sunny weather brought lots of extra people to the beaches.

He added water temperatures are still cool compared to summer, which leads to swimmers fatiguing more quickly and thus more incidents for lifeguards to respond to.
