Motorcyclist injured in morning collision with car in La Jolla

A motorcyclist sustained an open fracture in a collision with a vehicle Tuesday morning at 8:23 a.m. at La Jolla Village Drive west of Regents Road, said Gary Hassen, San Diego Police Department spokesman.

The road near the accident at La Jolla Village Road and Lebon was closed for a time. Eastbound La Jolla Village traffic was diverted from Lebon Drive onto Regents Road.

Maurice Luque, San Diego Fire-Rescue spokesman, said the motorcylist was identified as a woman in her 20s.

“She said she was cutoff by another vehicle, and to avoid a collision, she steered toward a parked care and hit it,” said Luque. “She was conscious when the fire crew got there. she wast transported to Scripps Memorial Hospital with major trauma, but her injuries didn’t appear to be life threatening.”
