A crowd of car lovers turned out Sunday for the 7th annual La Jolla Motor Car Classic., sponsored by the La Jolla Historical Society. Event co-chair Leslie Davis e-mailed on Monday that they were very happy with the results of the event, which attracted about 1,000 and about 180 volunteers.

“The weather gave us a late-game surprise assist and our increased sponsorship participation, along with our 2011 emcee Keith Martin of Sports Car Market Publishing, effectively raised the quality of this spectacular La Jolla event,” she added.

Historical Society Executive Director John Bolthouse said that attendance was down a bit from 2011, but “participants and spectators had a great time.”
He noted that the road rally, which ended at the Wisteria Cottage for the first time, showed the potential for the event’s growth. He estimated about 200 or so spectators wandered by as the cars arrived on Saturday afternoon.

The show benefits the Historical Society and the Monarch School.

Okay, I admit it. I am a huge fan of the Disney movies, TV shows, merchandise and theme parks. One of my favorite places to visit is Cars Land at Disney California Adventure Park, next to Disneyland Park in Anaheim (I have a well-used Premium Annual Passport). If you haven’t been there, you absolutely must go. Highlights are the recreations of Route 66 and C […]
