UCSD-TV to air ‘Mexico Moving Forward’ series


UCSD-TV is airing a four-part series at 8 p.m. on Mondays beginning March 21 from the program “Mexico Moving Forward,” a dialogue held on campus in February. The event focused on arts, culture,culinary arts, science, the environment, and philanthropy and the Corporate Community.

Here’s the schedule:

• March 21 — Arts and Culture: Novelists Cristina Rivera Garza and Rafael Tovar y de Teresa and sculptor Sebastian share how their art inspires and reinforces Mexican identity.

• March 28 — Museums and Culinary Arts: Diana Magaloni, director of Mexico’s Museum of Anthropology; chef and restaurant owner Monica Patino; and Roxana Velasquez Martinez del Campo, executive director of the San Diego Museum of Art, discuss the importance of fomenting national pride and identity through food and culture.

• April 4 — Science and the Environment: World-renown Stanford University botanist Rodolfo Dirzo and plant ecologist Exequiel Ezcurra, director of the University of California’s Institute for Mexico and the United States, discuss how science and technology impact society.

• April 11 — Philanthropy and the Corporate Community: Business executives Manuel Arango, Eugenio Garza Herrere, Roberto Servitje Sendra and Alejandro Valenzuela del Rio discuss how strategic philanthropic practices can stimulate change and development in Mexico.
