Aztecs top Northern Colorado for first NCAA tourney win

San Diego State kicked it up a notch in the second half on their way to the Aztec’s first NCAA Tournament win in the school’s history, topping Northern Colorado 68-50 in Tucson on Thursday.

Their first-round victory in the West Regional puts them in a match-up on Saturday against Temple, a last-minute 66-64 victor over Penn State earlier on Thursday. Game time had not been announced as of 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

Aztec senior Kawhi Leonard led his team with 21 points and 10 rebounds as the SDSU team overcame a slow start and a halftime lead of a mere 6 points.
