SDSU preparing to acceptance notices for 13,000

About 13,000 applicants accepted into San Diego State University for the fall semester, among nearly 60,000 to apply, will be notified in the coming weeks, the school announced Tuesday.

SDSU expects to enroll 3,657 freshmen and 2,517 undergraduate transfer students, said spokeswoman Gina Jacobs.

The school also accepted about 13,000 students last year, but many who apply and are accepted choose to attend another college.

“Despite significant budget cuts anticipated for next year, San Diego State has not reduced the number of new undergraduates in fall 2011 compared to fall 2010,” said SDSU President Stephen Weber, who is retiring at the end of the current semester.

“These highly qualified students will be a tremendous asset to the university and the future of California, as they are more likely to complete their university education and obtain their degrees,” he said.

An estimated 44 percent of those accepted come from SDSU’s service area, which is south of state Route 56, and includes Imperial County.

Incoming freshmen receiving acceptance notices have a high school grade point average of 3.78 and a SAT score of 1148, both comparable to last year, Jacobs said.

She said the incoming class will also maintain the school’s status of having one of the most diverse student bodies in the nation.

Okay, I admit it. I am a huge fan of the Disney movies, TV shows, merchandise and theme parks. One of my favorite places to visit is Cars Land at Disney California Adventure Park, next to Disneyland Park in Anaheim (I have a well-used Premium Annual Passport). If you haven’t been there, you absolutely must go. Highlights are the recreations of Route 66 and C […]
