Ms. Grace: Thanks for your comment. For the record, I have lived in La Jolla since 1968. I am the last of eight children and my father taught piano in La Jolla for 30 years. We built our first home overlooking the bike path (and back then, we used to call it the Bridle Path because of horse traffic). And although I really don't understand the relevance of my longevity in the neighborhood, I do believe I am qualified to address the dog issue. You are correct that the bike path was friendly to dogs and so I am I. That said, I don't make the rules regarding leash laws; that is an issue to address with the City of San Diego. As President of the BRCC, part of my job is to respond to community complaints and address them--in other words, I serve the community at large, not myself. Let's hope our exchange brings awareness to the situation so that self-enforcement rather than law enforcement does the trick.
