I must encourage our La Jolla families to look further than their own back yards and include all San Diego Unified Schools in their efforts. I do appreciate their efforts to secure their own children's public school services. However, as part of the San Diego community "we" need to acknowledge all San Diego city schools. How wonderful it is for La Jolla High to have a Foundation to "cover" their instructional supplies. Other schools are not as fortunate to have that resource. Our entire community is in crisis and all our students futures are in jeopardy.

What about other local schools? Mission Bay HS? PB Middle? Our parent organization is wonderful! but I haven't heard anything like this being thought of for them to do. These numbers to be contributed are huge!! How is the money add to the school's budget? Does the foundation simply right a check and hope the principal spends the money the way they are asked? Will the district allow the money raised to be spent the was the foundations say? Can the district step in and take the money?
So many questions about how this breaks down. As a teacher at MBHS and class advisor (who is CONSTANTLY trying to raise funds for a wonderful group of good hearted students who started the school year with $0 funds and have raised $1200 so far this year with just 3 hard working kids, 1 clean-up and the advisor) I am very interested in how to help FOPBSS achieve numbers like these to help MBHS. any ideas please post. thanks:D
