Ron Reagan marks father’s 100th birthdate with new book, visit to La Jolla

Ron Reagan will discuss his forthcoming memoir, “My Father at 100,” as a guest of UCSD’s Revelle Forum, 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26 at The Neurosciences Institute.

Reagan will be interviewed by Phyllis Pfeiffer, publisher of the La Jolla Light.

The 100th anniversary of the birth of president Ronald Reagan, one of the most influential politicians of the 20th century, is Feb. 6, 2011.

In an advance for the book, Ron explains that as he grew up, he observed the very qualities that made the future president a powerful leader. Yet for all of their shared experiences, there was much he never knew about his father’s past and in “My Father at 100,” he sets out to understand this enigmatic figure.

President Reagan came to personify the values of an older America, and his son traces the sources of these values in his father’s early years in a heartfelt portrait of the man and his country.
