A 24-year-old former Playboy Playmate of the Month who attended La Jolla High School will become 84-year-old Playboy founder Hugh Hefner’s third wife, the magazine mogul announced Sunday.

Hef announced his engagement on Twitter.

“When I gave Crystal the ring, she burst into tears,” Hefner tweeted. “This is the happiest Christmas weekend in memory.” A short time later he added, “Yes, the ring I gave Crystal is an engagement ring.”

They began dating about two years ago.

Harris was Playmate of the Month in December 2009. She was born in Arizona and later moved to San Diego, according to her website, www.crystalharris.com.

She attended La Jolla High School and San Diego State University, where she studied psychology.

It will be Hefner’s third marriage. He married his first wife, Mildred, in 1949, and they had two children, Christie, 58, and David, 55, before divorcing in 1959.

In 1989, he married Playmate of the Year Kimberley Conrad, and they have two sons, Marson, 10, and Cooper, 9. They divorced last year.
