Chargers sign linebacker
The San Diego Chargers have signed linebacker Brandon Moore and waived linebacker Darry Beckwith.
Moore, 6-foot-1, 240 pounds, has 242 career tackles and 15 sacks, but hasn’t played in an NFL game since ’07.
He spent all six of his NFL seasons in San Francisco and made 92 tackles and 6.5 sacks in ’06, his best statistical season. The Arizona Cardinals released him in 2008 during final roster cuts and he played for the United Football League’s Las Vegas Locomotives in ’09 and ’10, helping the team to two championships. Moore also has extensive experience on special teams, including a team-best 22 tackles for the 49ers’ units in ’04. His brother Rob Moore made the Pro Bowl as a receiver with Arizona in ’04 and ’07. Moore will wear No. 49 for the Chargers.
San Diego also signed tackle Eric Young to the practice squad. Young, 6-foot-3, 305 pounds, spent most of last season on the Rams’ practice squad. He was in St. Louis for training camp this season and also spent time with the Cleveland Browns in ’08. Young will wear No. 72.
