Family tree yields three artists for group show
Three generations have pooled their artistic abilities to present the group exhibit “It’s All Relative,” at the La Jolla Art Association Gallery, 8100 Paseo del Ocaso in La Jolla Shores, with a public reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 19.
The exhibit is open now through Nov. 21, and is free to view during the gallery’s hours of operation, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
Career rocket engineer Edward Hujsak, now age 85, is still active in his profession, lives in La Jolla, has written seven books, and has extended his talents into sculpture and furniture design. His whimsical works include “Explosion in a Lollipop Factory,” and “Failed DNA Model.”
His work is on display along with that of his niece, Lee Lisevitz, a part-time San Diegan, who has pioneered a new art form, shown in this exhibit, that involves a fusion of glass and canvas, backlit for luminosity.
Her daughter, Elizabeth Zaikowski of San Diego, has made her art specialty mandalas — concentric diagrams that have spiritual and ritual significance in both Buddhism and Hinduism. Zaikowski’s works have been displayed in numerous exhibits and she teaches public art at Disneyland, Sea World, and other venues. For more details, call the art association at (858) 459-1196.
