Chargers sign Herron

Press Release

The Chargers signed linebacker David Herron on Tuesday and waived outside linebacker Cyril Obiozor.

Herron entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Minnesota Vikings in ’07 and played in 10 games for Kansas City last year, making 11 special teams tackles.

Herron has 20 career special teams tackles in 26 NFL games. He made eight tackles on defense for the Minnesota Vikings in 2008 when he started three games.

Herron will wear No. 97 for the Chargers.

The 6-foot-1, 239-pound linebacker recorded 247 tackles in his collegiate career at Michigan State.
