Greg Fitzgerald and Brad Grant, known alternately as “Where’s Waldo,” won the amateur title in the fourth Beach Tennis Smash held over the weekend at La Jolla Shores. The game is like regular tennis except it’s played on a regulation volleyball court. Players use regular tennis rackets and there are two players on each side.

Fitzgerald and Grant bested Shawn Worst and Jim Thomas of “Theatre Guys,” 8-4 while “Sand Sharks” Lisa and Matilda Thomas defeated “Hermosa B.C.” Buckiita Leff and Cindy Levin, 8-4.

Mixed doubles players Lee Whitwell and Marty Solokas defeated Gretchen Magers and Jim Kellogg, 8-5, and the women’s doubles title went to Magers and Ros Nideffer, who topped Tiffany Worst and Blair Moses, 8-4

Men’s pro division was won by Donny Young and Marty Solokas, who defeated Brett Buffington and Brent Davis, 8-6.
