Physical ways to gain confidence and stand up to a bully are positive skills for kids to have. But bullying is also an opportunity for kids to learn resilience skills. My son studied the martial arts, but what finally gave him the skills to deal with his bullies was the help we found in Dr. Haber's book, "Bullyproof Your Child for Life." The fact is that bullying is just as often emotional and psychological as it is physical. We need to give our kids all the tools available to deal with bullies.
