Author Olivier Dalle and photographer Paul Burlingame invite all La Jollans to a launch party featuring the local celebrities included in their new “La Jolla / 92037” documentary guidebook, 7-9 p.m. Oct. 14 at Warwick’s bookstore, 7812 Girard Ave. On a related note, a book signing and photo exhibit by Burlingame will take place at 5 p.m. Oct. 15 at Pannikin Café, 7458 Girard Ave.
Dalle said the art book has been three years in the making – culled from the stories and photos only insiders really know.
“We give readers 37 of these tales, based on the Zipcode 37; tales that have come from a slowed down, observance of the town and its residents. It’s very European in its approach to portraying the idiosyncrasies of the neighborhoods and people. I found La Jolla to be a town full of wonderful contradictions,” said Dalle, a Frenchman.
The book is the first on a series the producers have planned for distinctive locales. In the works are such snapshots of Tijuana and Hillcrest.
“La Jolla / 92037” is available for $25 at Warwick’s, D.G. Wills Books, and some local cafes.
