La Jolla YMCA Gymnastics open house is Saturday

Proceeds from the event will go toward helping to fund the team’s 2011 trip to Switzerland for the World Gymnaestrada.

In addition to the gymnastics workshop, the event will feature Thai cuisine provided by Supannee’s House of Thai in Point Loma (scheduled to open late-October) and many raffle prizes including day-camp passes to Way Beyond, a cooking class provided by Cups, day passes to Solid Rock, and a special, limited edition San Diego Chargers football commemorating the AFC West Division 2009 Championship.

The La Jolla YMCA Gymnastics Team began competing four years ago. Within the larger team, there are three smaller teams. In 2010, all three teams placed first in their regional. In June, the teams competing in TeamGym Nationals received first place.

In July of 2011, the team will travel to Lausanne, Switzerland, for the 14th World Gymnaestrada. Lausanne, the Olympic capital of the world, is a region filled with history and beauty.
