La Jollans named to All-American team

Several local water polo athletes were recently named to the U.S. Water Polo Junior Olympic All-American teams that were released Sept. 15. All honorees currently play for San Diego Shores club team. On the boys 18 and under team, Alex Brown and Drew Hoffenberg were named to the first team while Matt Michalko was honored as a first-team spare.

On the 18 and under girls’ team, Ashley Young and Victoria Williams were named as honorable mention. On the boys’ 16 and under team Travis Webster was named to the first team while Kevin Levine and Blake Lee were honored as first-team spares. On the girls’ 16 and under team, Gaby Stone and Jessica Webster were named to the first team while Erin Pannek and Claryann Olofsson were named as first-team spares.

On the boys’ 14 and under team, Richard Daly and Andrew Chun were honored to the first team while Todd Denare was a first-team spare. On the 14 and under girls’ team, Hannah Carrillo and Jill Bushman were named honorable mention. On the boys’ 12 and under squad both Evan Elig and Chun were named MVP while Esteban Vasquez, Cole Kammerer and Mason Steffan Garcia were named to the first team. Erik Siegel and Cooper Milton were also named to the first-team spares.
