Chargers adjust roster, sign fourth long snapper

Chargers Press Release

The 6-foot-5, 260-pound Albright is in his 16th NFL season and had snapped in all 16 games every year since 1996 until this season. He entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with Green Bay in 1994 and spent the season on the practice squad. He played 10 games for Miami in ’95 and played in all 16 games every year from ’96 to ’09 for Buffalo and Washington, making the Pro Bowl with the Redskins in 2007.

Albright is the Chargers’ fourth long snapper in the last two weeks. The team has placed David Binn (hamstring), James Dearth (foot) and Neill on Reserve-Injured. Neill snapped for the Chargers in Weeks 2 and 3 but suffered an injury against Seattle, necessitating Albright’s signing.

Teal, who participated in training camp with the Chargers, played in 44 games with Carolina from 2007-09 and made 45 tackles on defense and 26 on special teams. The 6-foot, 205-pound safety gives San Diego another defensive back and special teams contributor, as does the 5-foot-10, 190-pound Hughes.

Hughes, in his fourth NFL season, played in one game for the Chargers last year against Washington. Hughes and Teal combined for five special teams tackles and a forced fumble in the preseason. Hughes was on San Diego’s active roster for the first two weeks of the season, but was inactive in the first two games.
