Artists work with Alzheimer’s patients

'The Illusion of Thought' by Cree Scudder

Local artist Cree Scudder has created a work of art inspired by the painting of a Memories in the Making art class participant Gary Provenzano who has Alzheimer’s disease. It’s part of the first auction featuring the work of 16 professional artists paired with artists with dementia, set for 5:30 p.m. Oct. 4. at Copley Plaza at the Old Globe Theatre in Balboa Park.

Additional La Jolla artists contributing to the art auction include Amy Gibbs, Jane Wheeler, and Paul Havermale.

Memories in the Making art classes are held at 22 locations for the benefit of Alzheimer’s patients, many of whom no longer speak.

Tickets to the art auction are $125 and $75 for young professionals (under 35) and include gourmet food and fine wines at www.sanalz.org. Click on the Art Auction banner.
