Wind ‘N’ Sea swimmers join the fun at La Jolla Rough Water Swim
While the seasoned swimmers tackled either a one-mile or three-mile course in Sunday’s 80th La Jolla Rough Water Swim, juniors braved the chilly waters for a 250-yard swim.
Many of them were from the Wind ‘N’ Sea Swim Team, with about 10 of the club’s teenagers swimming the mile course in the afternoon. Chip Peterson, who recently moved to La Habra, won the Gatorman, the 3-mile main event, as well as the men’s master’s mile race. La Jollan Corrie Falcon won the women’s master’s race with Jackie Corcoran taking the women’s Gatorman. Seventeen-year-old Michael Cohn, a Wind ‘N’ Sea team member from Solana Beach, took the men’s amateur race and Leticia Lelli, 16, of Scottsdale, the women’s amateur division.
Wind ‘N’ Sea parents John Otterson and Frank Bugelli, swam in the 40-49 age group. To find out more about the club, coached by Paton McClung go to www.windnseaswimteam.com.
