Volunteers pitch in to clean up Fire Station 9 in La Jolla

Members of the Rock Church in Point Loma fanned out over San Diego last weekend to clean up around 14 fire stations, including Station 9 at the foot of the La Jolla Parkway. More than 600 volunteers were matched up with stations near their homes as part of the Do Something World service campaign organized by Pastor Miles McPherson.

Station 9 will also be the beneficiaries of a fundraiser set for Sept. 11 party at the home of Sally and Greg Ricchiuti. She is the driving force behind KindtoNine.org, which was organized to raise money to revitalize the 1960s era facility. Marengo Morton Architects, which is donating architectural services for the project, will show renderings that evening. R.S.V.P. to Deborah Marengo at (619) 994-1246. To donate go to www.kindtonine.org. Checks should be made out to SD Fire & Rescue with a note: Earmarked for Station 9.
