Saturday’s mild weather produced the lowest temperature ever recorded in San Diego on any August 28, according to the National Weather Service.

Saturday’s high of 66 was the lowest maximum temperature recorded on that date since temperatures were first recorded in 1875.

It broke the record of 67 degree set in 1880.

Record low temperatures were also recorded in El Cajon and Oceanside.

Saturday’s high of 74 in El Cajon broke that city’s 2002 record of 82 degrees, while the high of 66 in Oceanside tied that city’s record from 2001.

San Diego residents can expect more tepid weather this week, with temperatures warming slightly Thursday and Friday, according to the National Weather Service.

Highs are expected to stay below 70 degrees through Wednesday, and then warm to 72 and 73 degrees on Thursday and Friday
