La Jolla councilwoman hosting forum on city deficit solutions

Councilwoman Sherri Lightner is inviting 1st District residents to share their ideas on how San Diego can encourage economic growth and increase revenues at a meeting from 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 26.

It will be held at Forum Hall at Westfield UTC, 4315 La Jolla Village Drive, above Wells Fargo Bank.

The meeting is a roundtable discussion by members of the San Diego Citizen’s Revenue Review and Economic Competitiveness Commission (CRRECC).

Established by the City Council in June under the auspices of the city of San Diego’s Budget and Finance Committee, the eight-member commission was established to address the city’s budget crisis by finding innovative solutions for San Diego’s structural deficit.

The commission has been charged with engaging the public and private sectors in reviewing best practices and strategies designed to retain and attract businesses to make recommendations toward providing efficient, effective and quality city services while maintaining a balanced budget with limited revenues.
