Bird Rock block remains dark

A problem continues with streetlights being out on the 5200 block of La Jolla Boulevard in Bird Rock between Sea Ridge Drive and Turquoise Street.

“They went out during the spring and have just not been on since,” said Joe LaCava, president of La Jolla Community Planning Association, an advisory group making land-use recommendations to the city. “If you drive down there at night it’s just pitch black on that road. Fortunately, there haven’t been any problems so far.”

First District Councilwoman Sherri Lightner’s office has been contacted and La Jolla rep Erin Demorest said, “We looked into it with the city and were told that it’s an SDG&E issue that only they can replace. I have called SDG&E government affairs and am waiting on an update from SDG&E as to the expected repair date.”
