La Jolla Pop Warner, cheer kick off practices

La Jolla Pop Warner Football and Cheer opened the 2010 season Monday with the first practices.

About 150 players and about dozen girls turned out for an evening of fundamentals and drills. The league, which starts games in September, had teams in the San Diego Pop Warner championships in 2008 and 2009. Registration is still being accepted for football and cheer.
