UCSD named one of top surf colleges

A surfing magazine has named UC San Diego the third best surfing college in the nation, the university announced today.

Transworld Surf touted UCSD for its proximity to the world-class breaks at Black’s Beach, as well as for its diverse student population and high academic standards, according to the university.

The magazine based its rankings on academics, surf quality, life experience, cost and partying.

Topping the list of Transworld Surf’s best surfing colleges was UC Santa Cruz, followed by UC Santa Barbara.

Point Loma Nazarene University placed fifth.
