Salk breakfast to address cancer research

Community leaders in the legislative, business, medical, education and research fields will convene at the San Diego Research Breakfast fund-raiser to support the work of the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN). The breakfast will be from 7 to 8:30 a.m., Friday, Aug. 1, at the Salk Institute in La Jolla.

Supporters of ACS CAN work to secure increased federal funding and to support public policies so that critical cancer research can continue.

Keynote speakers for the event are John Reed, Ph.D., president and CEO of Burnham Institute for Medical Research; and Joseph D. Panetta, president and CEO of BIOCOM.

The ACS CAN is a national, not-for-profit and non-partisan sister advocacy organization of the American Cancer Society dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives and increasing voter education.

To sponsor or attend the ACS CAN San Diego Research Breakfast fund-raiser, call (619) 682-7412 or send an e-mail to SD.ACSCAN@cancer.org.
