San Diego Opera gala proves that good music is ‘Fabulous at 40′

The San Diego Opera has been celebrating its 40th anniversary all season long. A post-performance gala at Golden Hall – following the opening night of “Vanessa” – might just have marked the official end of the year’s festivities, although the company still has one more production to unveil before the season comes to a close.

The marquee said it all- “Fabulous at 40″ – and the black-tie crowd agreed. They enjoyed a buffet supper and then danced the night away to the hot sounds of the King Kelly Orchestra. The event was dedicated to chair of the Board of Supervisors Pam Slater-Price and the county of San Diego for generosity in support of the opera’s education programs.

La Jolla opera buffs attending included Jeanne Jones, Don Breitenberg, Lael and Jay Kovtun, Jennifer and Richard Greenfield, Barbara Joy Marriott-Wilcox, Roger Cornell, Steve and Naomi Strauss, and Sally and John Thornton.
